Executive letter

Sustainability is important to Georgia-Pacific and always has been. We believe being sustainable requires a long-term, 360-degree perspective. It requires understanding the impact of our decisions and actions on our communities, the environment and our business through the entire life cycle – sourcing raw materials, making and shipping our products, and the end use and disposal of those products.

Good sustainable decisions are those that achieve the best balance among social, environmental and economic dimensions.

This site showcases examples of our progress – from our expanded forest policy statement to our leading-edge approach to employee safety to how we're providing ways to give some of our products new life after their first use is over.

Industry Efforts

We're also proud to participate in Better Practices, Better Planet 2020, an initiative of the American Forest & Paper Association that sets the most extensive and quantifiable set of sustainability goals for any major manufacturing industry in the United States.

This effort reinforces our belief that truly sustainable practices can create value for our customers, our communities and our company.

Looking Ahead

One thing we've learned is there is no finish line when it comes to sustainability. There are always things we can do better, areas where we can improve. In the near term, GP is focused on fine-tuning our business strategies to ensure sustainability issues and opportunities are addressed. We are also upgrading how we collect and manage the data that show us how we're doing.

For the long term, we will continue to create value the way we always have – providing products and services that customers prefer and efficiently using resources to do so while helping employees find fulfillment in their work and contributing to the quality of life in our communities.
